[Q] I have a problem installing Infinity USB or Infinity USB Phoenix on Windows XP (error code 10).
[A] This error arises due to a faulty driver installation. This is mostly caused by to a broken cable, trying to install the wrong driver or in rare cased a compatibility issue with specific motherboards/USB controllers, Infinity USB (Phoenix) and Windows XP (see below).
The Infinity USB hardware will continue flashing, and not be accessible by the software (programmer disconnected). The driver is not installed correct before the blue LED lights up constantly (without any smartcard inserted).
To solve the problem, first try connecting the programmer to a new USB port with another USB cable. Then reinstall the drivers downloaded from the download-page (complete diskimage). Make sure you have the right privileges (logged in as Administrator) to install a driver. |

[Q] When inserting a card, the following message is displayed: "No CPU could be detected on the inserted card..."
[A] The most likely cause for this, is either dirty contacts on the card, or the card facing in the wrong direction. The card can be cleaned with isopropyl alcohol, and must be inserted with the contacts facing down.
Another reason may be that you're inserting a card that Infinity USB (Phoenix) doesn't support natively. Cards like Basiccard and titaniumcards needs to be accessed in phoenix-mode, with the appropriate 3rd party software. |

[A] You may have a faulty card, or a card with dirty contacts. If you didn't do a full detect before programming you may have selected the wrong card. |

[Q] Can Infinity USB be upgraded to support Phoenix mode?
[A] An Infinity USB Phoenix contains almost twice as much hardware as an Infinity USB. It's therefore not possible to upgrade an Infinity USB to support phoenix mode.
Even though the latest Infinity USB uses the same printed circuit board as the Infinity USB Phoenix and therefore theoretically could be upgraded, the components needed and time/effort upgrading the unit exceeds the cost of a new Infinity USB Phoenix. |

[A] It is possible to use Infinity USB under MacOS using VirtualPC, and for Linux users, nftytool for both Infinity USB and Infinity USB Phoenix can be used. |

[A] It all depends on your application, and the card you want to access. There's alot of phoenix-compatible software available for all sorts of different applications, but WB Electronics does not recommend specific 3rd party software, and we cannot help with the use of specific software. |

[Q] I think I may have bought an Infinity USB clone, what should I do about it? / I have an M5 or blue Digitech programmer, where can I find the latest software-update for it?
[A] The Digitech and M5 programmers are illegal copies of the Infinity USB and WB Electronics will ofcourse not support the clones. Other clones are also available (which has nearly the same casing as an Infinity USB, typically with a red, green or yellow LED instead of blue, only 1 LED in the plastic casing, and with no serialnumber), and they will ofcourse also not be supported.
The current software-releases are not working with the Digitech or M5 clones, and we are working actively to make sure forthcoming versions wont work with the clones either.
If you suspect your Infinity USB to be a clone, contact us and we can easily determine if you have an original product, or a clone.
WB Electronics are the original developers and manufacturers of the Infinity product range, and the clones makes it impossible for us to invest the time and money needed for developing new products, and to provide new software releases for current products. We therefore recommend anyone who have bought a clone to return the programmer for a refund. |

[A] The CD included with Infinity USB, Infinity USB Phoenix, Funprogrammer USB and Smartmouse USB contains software for all 4 products. You only need to install the Infinity USB (Phoenix) software for the Infinity USB or Infinity USB Phoenix hardware. The software contains all features of the other 2 products, and the software for Funprogrammer USB and Smartmouse USB can't be used with Infinity USB or Infinity USB Phoenix. |

[A] The "Enable phoenix mode on startup" feature may have been enabled. To disable it, make sure the programmer is connected with the red LED on, open the software and look for a small Infinity USB Phoenix icon in the taskbar next to the clock in the right lower corner of the screen.
Rightclick the icon and choose "Exit Phoenix mode". Then open the setting window (Options | General) in the Infinity USB Phoenix software and pick the Phoenix tab. Remove the checkmark in "Enable phoenix mode at startup". |

[A] A 9 pin DSUB male to female cable, with all wires wired straight thru (1-1, 2-2, 3-3 ... 9-9) must be used (a nullmodem cable will not work). |

[A] Windows Vista and Windows 7 requires the latest Infinity USB driver (software package 1.60 or higher).
If you have previously tried to install the regular Infinity USB driver on Windows Vista or Windows 7 and you are having problems updating to the new driver try the following:- Download the latest Infinity USB software package at www.infinityusb.com/download
- Install Infinity USB version v1.60 software package or higher
- Restart the PC without having Infinity USB Phoenix connected
- Go to 'c:\windows\system32\drivers' and delete infusb.sys
- Connect the Infinity USB Phoenix hardware
- Go to 'Control panel->System->Device manager', right click 'Infinity USB' and select 'Update driver'
- Select 'Browse my computer', 'Let me pick from a list of device drivers' and then 'Have disk' and locate the folder 'c:\program files\infinity usb\driver' in the driver wizard
- Once the driver wizard finishes run the Infinity USB software
